On 14th October 2006, Silva became the new UFC Middleweight Champion after beating Rich Franklin. He would then have a cool 7-year-reign as the undefeated Middleweight Champion.
Anderson’s career took a downhill turn when he failed the USADA drug test in 2015. He tested positive for a range of illegal substances that resulted in him being fined nearly $400,000.
Silva would then fail another drug test in November 2017 that had him suspended for a whole year.
When he returned in 2019, he would lose all three of his matches that year. Anderson then hinted later that his MMA career was over via a post on Instagram.
The UFC released Silva from his contract on November 19th, 2020.
