Frank Shamrock can be likened to a phoenix in many ways, none more than how he conquered his childhood troubles to become a revered UFC champion.
You see, Frank grew up moving from foster home to foster home. Moreover, without a proper upbringing, he found himself on the wrong side of the law severally.

His foster brother, Ken Shamrock, introduced him to submission fighting. The duo would regularly go to UFC tournaments.
Shamrock would then start training at his brother’s training school named Lion’s Den.
He made his official wrestling debut in December 1994 in the King of Pancrase Tournament. Shamrock defeated a top Pancrase contender named Bas Rutten.
UFC Debut.
Frank joined the UFC after defeating Enson Inoue at Vale Tudo Japan 97.
Shamrock came out guns blazing and defeated the UFC Middleweight Champion of the time, Kevin Jackson.
Frank’s win was impressive because Kevin Jackson had won his middleweight title at UFC 14 and had managed to be undefeated until his fight with Shamrock. The match was over in just 16 seconds when Frank arm-barred Kevin Jackson and took his title.
Shamrock defended his new title against the undefeated champion of Extreme Fighting, Igor Zinoviev. The match was at UFC 16, and it showed just how lethal a fighter Frank was. He took Igor down by a double-leg blow.
The blow was so lethal that Igor landed unconscious and fractured a vertebra.
Moreover, he broke his collar bone. The injuries were so severe that they forced Igor to retire permanently from his MMA career.
Shamrock then fought Jeremy Horn during UFC 17 and defeated him by submission with a kneebar.

Shamrock then retired from the UFC and briefly commentated and consulted with the organization.
Shamrock then returned from his retirement and fought in the MMA event, Strikeforce: Shamrock vs. Gracie. He would retire from fighting on 26th June 2010.
